The history of human kind was always tied with violence. This is our history. A history of violence. Wars, wars and more wars. One has to wonder what is the real story concerning the so-called great conquerors in history. We know that one man alone cannot amount to much - that that person needs a following - to get things done. That there needs to be a second in command - who does most of the work involved? And then a hierarchy below that - a chain of command. And how was that chain of command maintained? Was it by pure force? And not by voluntary means? By such figures as Alexander the Great, Genghis Khan, and so on. Each individual case will vary - no doubt. But still it would be nice to know the real story. We know more about the Romans and how cruel they were - that they ruled by might. Times were brutal - it was always about being conquerors or being conquered.
But this is how a lot of history is simply lost - and what gets to be written down can be far from the truth, whereby the winners write their history (which is often self serving) and the losers get merely a mention. But as time has moved on - intelligence finally comes to the fore. That civilisation can advance by leaps and bounds when there is peace and cooperation present - such that business between cultures can happen. Even with the Romans this was seen to be present - especially when it is a far away Roman outpost whereby they are dependent upon cooperation with their locals.
In today's modern world - the culture of violence is still kept and maintained. Where might is right. This is present in the Marvel Superhero and other such movies. The goodie may not kill the baddie in the end - but still violence is very much present and used. There is still the need for modern warfare and well equipped armies ready to be employed at a moments notice. This makes mankind destined for war again and again - with not a valuable lesson learned. This is true of the atom bomb and even deadlier hydrogen bombs - ready to decimate this world so many times over. How insane is that? This is not a recipe for a long lasting peace - when countries threaten each other with their atomic arsenal.
The sensible answer would be to disarm and destroy all such weapons of total mass destruction for a very lengthy lasting peace - and to get along with our neighbors - for the good of the world - to treat one another as equals and with respect. What you do on a one to one level - whether with a person/stranger, or as groups of people or nations. To not have secret intelligence agencies - who can do the most despicable things in secret (supposedly for the good of their country - but when done in secret - they are not held to accountability but simply run amuck with their power they have) because this would make diplomatic negotiations a big fat lie.
The world would have advanced in a most positive direction had all the money and technical expertise used for nuclear arms development were used instead for advancement in the fields of space travel, medicine, new means of power generation and other such enhancements and advancements for our own daily living. We could have developed cities in space, underground and in the seas by now? Colonized the Moon and Mars by now? Conquered the likes of Covid-19 by developing a universal vaccine for all such viruses, cured cancer and so on.
The issue of violence - is very simple. Do not engage in it. Nothing good comes out from the use of violence. No one wins.
Instead engage in discussion and get to the heart of the matter at hand. The problem has always been - being able to get along with the party at hand. That we have to get along with one another - even though we may have different views, ideas, culture, language and so forth. Recognize that we are still human beings and as such we should be able to find a way of still being able to live with each other by some kind of agreement that allows us to.
There will always be so-called evil people or persons - with evil intent. These persons fall into the category of mass murderers - who delight with their killing. There is no way of dealing with them except by catching them and imprisoning them. And if they show no signs of reform over a period of time - execution may be the only answer for them in the end.
Wars should be outlawed and regulated to the past. No good came from any war. All that resulted - was that innocents become involved and killed in the mess that is war. Examination of all wars - recent and past - ought to vindicate this clearly. That by studying wars - we now know their full horror. Cut the crap about the fallen as being heroes. I'm sure they would rather be alive - than dead and buried, without having their say - and life.
Our stories (movies, etc too) need to change to reflect this attitude. That war is no good no more. That violence of any kind is not to be tolerated. That the use of violence is just plain bullying. Plain and simple. And a guy like Trump - is just a bully - with his words and actions. A true leader - leads by example.
